Most likely the bad reputation of sit ups has been earned through not so much the perceived ineffectiveness of the sit ups, but through the fact that unless they are performed properly, they very likely will not give you beneficial factors. You will only be doing sit ups for the sake of doing sit ups if you don't do them with the right technique and form.

Another thing that you will want to know about sit ups, is as good as sit ups are as an exercise sit ups performed incorrectly can lead to injuries in the neck, back and shoulder area especially.
