Acne Treatment for Oily Skin

by Clarita Milles

Out of all the skin types, oily skin is perhaps the most prone to acne and acne breakouts. This is due to the excessive sebum production that is characteristic of this skin type. Nevertheless, there are several products that can effectively help you deal with acne and oily skin.

Before going out on a shopping spree, you should establish the proper cleansing routine for your skin type. Oily skin requires cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing as does any skin type. The difference is in the ingredients you should look for.

When cleansing you should look for a foaming product that contains salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid that can help promote the sloughing off of dead skin cells and control excess sebum production. If not dealt with; these situations can lead to acne breakouts.

If the cleanser you've chosen is not removing all of your makeup, then you can use a makeup remover before cleansing. After having cleansed you should use a toner to eliminate all debris or sebum that may not have been removed while cleansing.

You should exfoliate at least once a week. If your skin starts getting dull, then you should increase the amount of times that you exfoliate. However, don't overdo the exfoliation process because it can lead to more sebum production.

Moisturizing is essential for all skin types. For oily skin, you should use a water based moisturizer. These types of moisturizers absorb quickly and do not leave heavy residue behind.

The last step is the application of a natural acne cream. You can decide to use it all over your face, or on specific areas. This product should contain benzoyl peroxide or retinoids to help control the development of acne.

Benzoyl peroxide is a traditional treatment for acne. It helps kill the bacteria (P. acnes) that cause acne infection. Retinoids work much like salicylic acid does.

Your cleansing routine should be repeated twice a day: once in the morning and once before going to bed. If you are consistent, your cleansing routine should be enough to control general acne breakouts. However, if you have severe acne you should consult a doctor for the appropriate acne treatment.

Treating acne adequately is extremely important. Any acne problem that is left untreated can lead to scarring. Once acne has develop into acne scars it means that you will now have to deal with acne scar removal as well as other skin problems.

Sometimes the use of common cosmetics -foundation and makeup- can also be a factor in acne breakouts. When choosing make-up, especially foundation, it is important that you make sure that the product you are purchasing is non-comedogenic or water based. Traditional oil-based foundations can promote the formation of clogged pores and spark acne problems.

Cystic acne is a severe form of acne than can be treated with a natural acne product - BIOSKINFORTE. This natural product is so gentle it has sometimes been compared to acne home remedies, however, it is much more effective. If you've finally discovered the importance of natural products and are looking for a facial or back acne treatment, try BIOSKINFORTE.
